Sorry I've Been Away

Sorry I've been away. Life has been crazy! Holiday in the retail world! Trips to visit friends!  Big promotions! I'm back though, and I'm asking for a new camera for Christmas. Hope the pics will improve.

In the meantime, I stumbled upon the most beautiful fall foliage here in Atlanta! While it's still in the low 60's, I like to break out the faux fur once the temp drops below 70!

Fall Style Tip: Never be afraid to wear faux fur, no matter how casual the outfit!

Lazy Saturday

I am so sorry I haven't posted in a week. It was a crazy week at work topped off with an overnight on Friday. Saturday was a LAZY day, but my sweet husband still wanted to take me out to dinner that night.

Loving a little sequin sweatshirt paired with a pair of expertly worn-in slouchy skinnies! I may always be in a heel, but a lazy saturday calls for a comfy flat -- as long as it's a leopard flat.

Happy Hunting

Introducing Lucille!

When I got dressed this morning, I had to chuckle at the modern girl's take on a hunting outfit. Wearing my favorite camo jeggings (so, ridiculously soft) with a bright orange blazer! You can't miss me in the woods . . . were I to ever actually go into the woods.

This is also my first post with Lucille, my new Speedy. It's the first time I have ever spent a RI-DICULOUS amount of money on a bag, but she will only appreciate over time. At least, that's how I am justifying it.

Death by Suburb

Loving these "flat-forms." So comfy!

Spent a lazy Sunday at my sister's house deep in the burbs of Atlanta. I loved my "lazy Sunday" outfit, but my husband thought it might be a little much . . . I just say it's my version of jeans and a tee shirt!

Elle-Mazing

Dear readers, I have blogged before of my love of fashion magazines. It is no secret. Cut to me on my lunch break at work yesterday. I was sitting at my favorite little bistro in the mall, and I opened my October issue of Elle. I was thumbing past the Letters to the Editor page and landed on the Blogger Banter page.

Reading through the "banter," I stumbled upon MY OWN BLOG POST!! Imagine my excitement! If you were sitting in the restraunt, you don't have to imagine -- you heard me squealing. Here my blog was, printed on Elle's pages for the world to see! I am now one step closer to one of my ultimate fashion dreams: meeting Joe Zee!

Thank you Elle for making a dream come true!

Work It

A typical work outfit. Loving the new Gummy Legging jeans at work. The fit is fantastic, despite the fact that I have to go up a size. They fit like second skin and hold their shape through every wear.

Felt a little neutral and predictable with the grey top and black blazer . . . enter the fun fuschia shoes! Love a pop of color!

Spring Fashion: 10 Crosby Derek Lam

Of all the Spring shows so far, I think Derek Lam's 10 Crosby line is my favorite. I have previously mentioned my absolute love of prints, so it's no surprise that I am A-DORING his use of prints (especially the print on print stripe blazer with floral bouse). This collection reads young and modern with that little sense of whimsy that I'm always looking for out of fashion.

I haven't been good about posting lately, so I will be making a better effort. Stay tuned, but let me know you're out there! Make some comments. Let me know your thoughts. Which collection has been your favorite so far?

xoxo

Neutral Story

This sunny, hot day in Atlanta definately felt right for this fantastic new skirt and a basic tank. It just felt like a good day for neutral tones.

I'm loving the idea of this skirt for fall/winter too! I can't wait to pair it with a cozy sweater and a pair of knee boots. Ready for that crisp weather to hit any day now . . .

After being gone for Lollapalooza in Chicago followed by a work conference in Vegas, I'm home! I had so many Lolla pictures to post, but here are a few of my favorites. I was so hot, I felt like I sacrificed a little fashion for function, but it was worth it! Amazing musicians, amazing local vendors, amazing trip!

Vacay

I am leaving for Chicago this morning for Lollapalooza! I am so excited about seeing all the great bands, and a great people watching weekend! I have spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time picking out all of my outfits for the next few days so I can be cute and comfortable in the heat.

I come back from Lolla on Monday, but leave for Las Vegas on Tuesday. I might be gone for awhile, but there will be lots of fun pics when I get back! Until then!

Willpower

After blogging about my obsession with these Current Elliot cheetah print jeans, I found myself at Nordstrom buying them. Talk about willpower . . . or lack thereof.

I work for a large national retailer, and I was thinking how do I style these so I could still wear them to work. By checking out the descriptions, you might be able to figure out where I work. Love playing with pattern themes, and the idea of this black and white stripe top was just too irresistable. Add some leather bracelets and a bright red lip, and there you go!

Periodical Inspiration

Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with my fashion mags. I read them all. I have subscriptions to most, but usually I end up buying them at the newsstand when I haven't gotten mine within at least two days of them appearing at the local Barnes & Noble.

Photo from Elle magazine
When I read a fantastic article in this month's Elle, I was floored. Talk about right message, right time. Rachel Rosenblit's amazing article on Gabrielle Bernstein was fascinating. Bernstein IS the fashion girl's life GURU. Her message really isn't anything new, but it somehow holds water:

"'Our intentions create our reality.'"

"'If your experiences of things being happy and abundant has everything to do with what's going on outside-because the guy called, you got the job, whatever-like I said, you will all be fucked.'"

Amazing. A must read: Soul Provider by Rachel Rosenblit

Even a fashion girl takes the hint when she's being smacked over the head with it. Thanks Elle magazine!

Pattern, Pattern, Pattern

Loved mixing the stripes in this ruffle tank with the gingham skirt. I'm not sure a bubble skirt is the best look for me, but I adore this skirt anyway!

Wanted to do an up close of the jewelry. I know Coco Chanel said to always take one piece off, but I like to add one instead.

Dynamic Denim

I am seeing a lot of new trends in denim, but my two favorites right now are leopard and color! I am DYING for a pair of red jeans. This pair is great! The leopard print are definately calling my name too.

What do you think? As a girl with a curvy lower half, the idea of drawing even more attention to my rear makes me a little nervous. Any other exciting denim trends you're thinking about trying?

Party Dress

In August, I'm headed to Vegas for the first time ever. I know I will need some sort of pary dress, and I have been stressing over finding the right dress. I wandered onto ModCloth, and I found this fantastic little number!

The leopard is absolutely perfect! Fits my personality, and I can totally dress it up with the right shoes and jewelry for Vegas, but I can't wait to make it a fun day dress for around Atlanta!

Stay tuned for pics of how I put this together when it comes in!

Ikat Love

I'm thinking of redecorating my living room space in my loft. I am absolutely in love with all things morracan, indian, ikat, kantha . . . you get the drift.

Absolutely LOVING the above items! I'm on the hunt!

Twirl

A beautiful day calls for a beautiful skirt! I loved walking around in this fabulous coral midi while the wind was blowing! So airy and perfect for the blistering Georgia heat!

When I ordered this skirt, I thought how cute it would look with chambray shirts and white tanks. When it came, I loved the idea of pairing the color with a turquoise top to play up color. So fun!

Meow

I have talked about my love of all things Leopard and Tucker in previous posts. This blouse is my combination of both. I knew I wanted a beautiful Tucker blouse of my very own, and when I saw this one, I was done! Perfect dressed up, but I love it dressed down with cutoffs and a pair of short booties. What's your favorite print, and how do you love to rock it?

Sequins & Stripes

Creating looks on ShopStyle is addicting! I love the idea of mixing a basic stripe tee, which I love and own way too many of, with these sequin pants. It gives a suble, yet stunning print on print motif that adds a little sparkle to your daily life.

The leopard shoes and the red bag add just that right amount of sass too!
